The Simpsons was created by Matt Groening for the Tracy Ulman show in 1997 as a series of animated shorts. Their popularity took off from there and the show became a half hour show for Fox in 1989 from there it basically became the most popular and longest running show of all time. The show is still going now over 30 years later. The show has since spawned comic books, movies and merch that has set sales records globally. Creator Matt Groening also went on to create another show Futurama.
The Simpsons revolves around parents Marge and Homer and their three kids Bart, Lisa and Maggie. Anyone who’s seen this will know the humour is dry, topical, sarcastic, funny and black all at the same time.
“I’ve Had it up to here with your Rules”. This quote comes from season 6 episode 3 when Marge decides to join the police force. The quote itself is taking a jab at gun culture in America and the ease of which they are made available. The show also pokes fun at women’s roles in the house, and the complacency of the police force. Marge stikes a blow for women all over the world. Over all a cool episode and definitely worth watching.
